10/20/2003 The race results from the sixteenth and final points race are now posted. The FINAL season standings are also posted. Thirty-seven karters raced under a cool partly cloudy skies. Thanks to everyone who attended, especially all of our visitors and track workers. And a big thank you to everyone who helped pack stuff away for next season, next time we'll get more pizza and wings. Everyone was really hungry!! We hope to see you again next year, AND at the Awards Banquet on November 23. If you haven't sent in your RSVP yet, don't wait any longer and do it right now! There is a deadline so don't miss out! Stay tuned for announcements regarding general meetings to elect next year's trustees and officers. Thanks for a great season!

10/07/2003 CKRA hosted the inaugural NIKC at Thompson Kart Raceway on Saturday, October 4, 2003. Over 50 karts turned out in spite of windy, cold and damp conditions to compete for themselves and their tracks for the Track Cup. Individual race results can be found here. Thompson won this year's cup and will defend it next year at Fremont. Thanks to everybody for supporting all three tracks. The race results from the fourteenth points race are now posted. The next practice is Saturday, October 11 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next points race is Sunday, October 12, 2003. There are only two possible points races remaining! 08/19/2003 The race results from the tenth points race are now posted. The season standings are also posted. Fourty-three karters raced under cool, sunny skies and endured a long wait for the ambulance to return. Fortunately, the drivers from both incidents are fine. Thanks to everyone who attended, especially all of our visitors. We hope to see you again. The next practice is Saturday, August 30 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, August 31, which will include the Super Can Cup. The Super Can Cup is a 50 lap race in addition to the day's regular points race open to anyone in the American Power Sports Senior Sportsman class. Please note that the Super Can Cup is limited to the first 15 entries, so confirm your entry now. See the message forum for more details on how to do that.


08/03/2003 Today's races are a complete rainout. There will be one less race available to earn season points though the best ten races will still count towards each driver's total. If you were there, we stayed dry under our new grid canopy. Thanks to everyone who came out hoping the rain would stop. We hope to see you again. Fifty-one karters raced and three baby karts participated setting a new high attendance mark for CKRA. Thanks to everyone who attended, especially all of our visitors. We hope to see you again. The next practice is Saturday, July 19 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, July 20.


07/01/2003 Wednesday, July 2 is a cookout special practice night. We are hoping to get some drivers from the Grand Prix to come out and visit if their schedules permit. The Independence Eve show at the dragstrip is Thursday night.


07/01/2003 The race results from the sixth points race are now posted. The season standings are also posted. Forty-seven karters raced a full show after enduring a brief rain delay that started just as the first practice session rolled out. Thanks to everyone who attended, especially our visitors from Barberton. We hope to see you again. The practice schedule changes to only Saturdays before a points race for the rest of the season. The next practice is Saturday, July 12 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, July 13.


06/18/2003 The race results from the fifth points race are now posted. The season standings are also posted. Thirty-eight karters raced under sunny skies and actually experienced summer-like weather finally. Thanks to everyone who attended. The next practices are Saturday, June 21 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 25, from 6:00 PM until dark and Saturday, June 28, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, June 29. We are approaching the change in our practice schedule. The last Wednesday night practice is June 25 and we will only have Saturday practice before a race day.


06/04/2003 The race results from the fourth points race are now posted. The season standings are also posted. Thirty-six karters raced under cool skies, but were happy that the rain let up for a good day of racing. Thanks to everyone who attended. The next practices are Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, from 6:00 PM until dark and Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, June 15. Forty-one karters raced under cloudy skies that threatend but didn't rain unlike the tracks to the south. Thanks to everyone who attended for setting a new high mark for CKRA. The next practices are Saturday, May 24 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 28, from 6:00 PM until dark and Saturday, May 31, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, June 1. 04/28/2003 The race results from the first points race are now posted. The season standings will be updated shortly, though after only one race, they are identical. Thirty-six karters raced under clear blue skies. Thanks to everyone who attended and Welcome to all the new faces at the track. We also had the good fortune to draw many spectators from the swap meet at the drag strip who probably got their first taste of karting. The next practices are Wednesday, April 30, from 6:00 PM until dark and Saturday, May 3, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our next race is Sunday, May 4.


03/31/2003 !!Raffle Kart Winner Drawn!! CKRA is proud to announce the winner of the raffle kart is Rickey Tonna of Chesterland, OH. He did not attend the seminar but was contacted by phone. He said that he plans on racing his new Coyote/Briggs in our Senior Animal class at Thompson. Additional photos will be displayed when Rickey takes delivery of his new kart. Stay tuned!


03/31/2003 We are going to have our first practices on April 6th & 13th. We will start with general clean up at 8:00 AM. We need to set up the new hay bales, adjust some fencing, and do some painting. We also need to put in a new gate. There are other projects that we are going to tackel like a podium, decking around the concessions, some tower work etc. If you come to help, please bring paint brushes, ladders, and muscles. Practice will start at aprox 2:00 PM. Were looking forward to a great season!


03/31/2003 CKRA held its third Competition Karting Seminar, Sunday, March 30, at the Great Outdoors Trailer Co. in Eastlake. Over sixty people were in attendance to learn more about karting. We hope we answered all of your questions, but if not, feel free to post on our message forums. 03/15/2003 !!Raffle Kart Update!! Less than 40 tickets remain for the raffle kart. The new car show was a great success selling most of the tickets sold. The drawing will be held during our Competition Karting Seminar on March 30, 2003. The winner does not need to be present to win. Stay tuned for announcement of the winner!

03/15/2003 Our next promotional event will be the SCCA Competition Clinic at the IX Center on Saturday, March 15, 2003. More information about the clinic can be found here. We will have an 8 foot table for our various information handouts and room for 3 karts across the aisle. 03/02/2003 The New Car Show is in town at the IX Center in Cleveland and CKRA has a booth there again. We are actively promoting our club, track and sport to the general public to make sure the world knows we exist. Here are some pictures taken during setup showing the behind the scenes work. This page has pictures of the completed booth before the show opened Friday night for employee night.


02/23/2003 The Fremont Motorsports Swap Meet was held on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds. CKRA shared a booth with Fremont Raceway Park to promote karting to the motorsports racers attending and to sell raffle tickets. 01/19/2003 The Yankee Lake Swap Meet was held on Sunday, January 19, 2003. Doug Marsh, Chuck Bunnell, John Burton and Michael Burton took turns working our table to answer any questions karters had about our track, schedule, classes and race operations. We also tried to sell more raffle tickets to generate funds for the club. Click here for more information and pictures of our table.

01/13/2003 CKRA regrets to announce that WKA has raised the cost of pit passes for the upcoming 2003 season. For this reason entry fees and individual pit passes will each go up one dollar in cost. Entry fees will now be $23 and pit passes will be $5 each. Click for a detailed fee listing.


01/08/2003 CKRA's website has been reconfigured for the 2003 season. The top line in the blue menu block is a link to the 2002 season information. All of last year's race results and season standings are still posted, along with the schedule, regulations, entry fees and club officers and trustees. The main point is to advertise that we have successfully completed our first season and are moving on to big things in our second. The menu below should look as it did before but the underlying directory structure now allows for additional seasons with little effort on your webmaster. And finally, our front door has been updated to try to make it more friendly to people new to our site and karting. Please share any suggestions for improvements with your webmaster.


01/08/2003 The Cleveland Autorama is January 17-19 at the Convention Center in downtown Cleveland. We will have a booth in the Thompson Drag Raceway area similar the booth we had at last year's new car show.We will have five karts on display with one on the floor for people to sit in. One of those karts will be our raffle kart described in the news blip below. We will have a sixth kart on display in the SCCA booth. If you are interested in working please contact Doug Marsh


01/08/2003 The Yankee Lake swap meet will be Sunday, January 19, 2003 in the Yankee Lake Ballroom in Brookfield, OH on route 7. Admission is $10 before 10:00AM and $5 after that. Contact Cindi Raiti at 330-395-3624 for more information. CKRA will have a table there to promote our club and to sell raffle tickets. Doug Marsh, John Burton and Chuck Bunnell will be working this table.


01/08/2003 The 2003 CKRA schedule is now posted! Highlights are 16 points races, best 10 count towards season end; the Northcoast Invitational Karting Championships, (NIKC), and the SuperCan Cup, (SCC). Additional information will be posted here as it is finalized.


12/9/2002 A general meeting was held December 8, 2002 at the Willoughby Public Library to conduct trustee and officer elections. Returning to complete the second of their two year terms are Doug Marsh as President and John Burton as Treasurer. Newly elected starting their two year terms are Chuck Bunnell as Vice President and Dave Paterniti as Secretary. Your newly elected Trustees each serving a one year term are Matt Leskovec, Tom Eisele, Jim Carbone, Keith Paterniti, and Mike Rohaley
