Thompson Kart Raceway is part of the Thompson Drag Raceway facilities located in Thompson, Ohio in northeastern Geauga county.
The address is 8233 Sidley Road, Thompson, Ohio, 44086. Clicking the map below will take you to mapquest.com where the map will become interactive and you can enter your home address and get directions from mapquest. Partial directions will be provided below.
Suggested directions:
From I-90 westbound Take the Ohio route 528 Thompson exit and head south of route 528. Continue south on route 528 for about ten and a half miles going through South Madison and Thompson until reaching the intersection with Ohio route 166. There will be a large sign advertising Thompson Drag Raceway on the left side of the road. Turn left to head east on route 166. Go east for about 2 miles to Sidley road. There is an ice cream store on the left side of the road and a very small sign on the right for the dragstrip. Turn right onto Sidley Road and travel south for about a mile or so. The dragstrip will be on the left. The first driveway is for dragstrip traffic. All kart traffic should go past the first gate and enter through the second gate. Proceed back to the kart track after paying your gate fee. Gate fee is $6 a person with under 8 free.
From I-90 eastbound You can either follow the directions for I-90 westbound or these directions which are a little shorter. Exit I-90 onto Vrooman Road. Head south on Vrooman Road for about two miles to a five way intersection. Proceed onto Ohio route 86, Plank Road, which is almost straight across the intersection. Proceed southeast on Plank Road for about nine miles to an intersection with Ohio route 166, Rock Creek Road. Turn left onto route 166 heading northeast for about six miles to Sidley Road after crossing route 528.
Burroughs Road is a more direct route to the second gate but is a bumpy gravel road that may be undesirable to many.
Here is an image borrowed from maps.google.com which shows the new track from a satellite view and its relation to the dragstrip.
The Thompson Drag Raceway and the old Thompson Kart Raceway may be seen in the aerial photograph from mapquest.com. Unfortunately the photo is too old to show the new track. Clicking the photo below will take you to mapquest where the image will become interactive. All kart traffic should enter the second gate as shown in the aerial photograph.
