PRESS RELEASE

Championship Kart Racing Association www.ckra.org announces the first of what it hopes to be an annual CKRA Charity Race. This year we will race for the United States Marine Corps in conjunction with Toys for Tots organization which helps distribute gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Karting has been a part of motor sports since the 1950's and has evolved from a simple weekend pastime to a Nationally and Internationally organized competitive form of motor sports. Karts are the most inexpensive way to enjoy the thrills and excitement of motor racing in a safe and controlled environment. It doesn't matter what age you are, or if you are male or female, you could be looking for family fun or serious competition. Karting provides a great day out for all.

Local celebrities have been invited to drive a kart for this charity race to generate ticket sales at the gate. In addition, a full day of championship kart racing will be held for your entertainment. ALL proceeds from the event will be donated to the Toys for Tots campaign in the Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties.

Join Laurie Hovater of 99.5 WGAR in Cleveland and other radio and television personalities on August 14, 2005 1:00 p.m. at Thompson Kart Raceway, Thompson, Ohio next to Thompson Raceway Park.

Hope to see you there!!

ENTRY INFORMATION

CKRA and The U.S. Marines/Toys for Tots have combined forces to present an awesome day of racing to benefit the Toys for Tots program in the Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties area. We will have a celebrity race in addition to racing our normal classes. All profits from the race will be donated to the Toys for Tots program.

This is a non-points race. Trophies will be given for finishing position so this IS a competition race. Every entrant will receive a T-shirt to reward his or her participation.

Only 14 drivers will be accepted in each class. This will be determined on a “first come, first served” basis. The entry form may be found at http://www.ckra.org/2005/forms/entry_t4t.pdf Just print your copy, fill out the information needed and mail it with the entry fees (check or money order payable to CKRA) to:

Bonnie Marsh
138 E. Overlook Dr.
Eastlake, Ohio 44095

We will not be pulling pills to determine starting positions for this event. The order in which your entry is received will be the starting order for the heat race. If more than one entry is received on the same day, they will be marked in the order they are placed in the mailbox with the entry on top as first and so on. Entries must be mailed. Any entry received other than by mail will be given the last starting position for the heat race.

The fees for this event are:

$25.00 per driver/class entered
$5.00 for each additional pit pass needed*

*please remember, you must have a pit pass to be allowed in the hot pits so if you plan to start someone’s kart, you must purchase an additional pit pass just like on a normal raceday!*

This promises to be a great day of racing and family fun. Remember, only 14 entries per class, so make sure to get your entry mailed ASAP. After the 14th position is filled, entries will be returned. If less than four (4) karts enter a class, that class will be cancelled and entry fees will be returned.

If you have any questions/comments, please feel free to call me at 440/953-3899.
