| A BIG thank you to...Bill Johnson(Johnson Demolition Construction), Mike O'Donnell(Custom Golf Construction) and John Burton(B&B Engineering). All three took time off from their real jobs to get this new track exit completed. The paving was completed today and John made a trip out to the track on his lunch break. Bill Johnson and Mike O'Donnell handled the ground preperation. We have felt that it was only a matter of time before someone got hurt trying to exit the track during a hot track condition. The new exit will take you off the track from the outside of the last turn far off the racing line. This project cost just about $2000 and was paid for from the proceeds of the 2004 raffle kart. It is from the hard work of the members that work the shows, move some tickets, and put the kart together that make this possible.
Below are two pictures showing the track exit looking at it from either end. Drivers will exit the track by going wide into the second sweeper and using the cut-through to get to the exit. The old exit will NOT be used anymore. The final dirt work will be completed this week before the night race. Click on either picture for a larger version of each. |
