10/04/2007 The CKRA 2007 Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at Dino's Banquet Center in Mentor. That is the same place as last year and we hope to see everyone there. Invitations will be in the mail soon!

Welcome (7K)
You've found the official web site for Championship Kart Racing Association, CKRA. We are a club of karters running the sprint asphalt road course at Thompson Kart Raceway.

Become involved! We are always looking for help in club operations. Not to say that we don't want to see more racers at the track, because we do, but not everyone has the budget or inclination. There are many other ways to be a part of the racing at Thompson Kart Raceway. Contact us to find out.

Feel the thunder at Thompson Kart Raceway!

03/14/2007 The 2007 Thompson Kart Raceway regulations are now available for viewing here.

01/17/2007 The 2007 Thompson Kart Raceway season schedule is now available for viewing here. A lot of effort was made to select dates that allowed our club members to compete not only at Thompson, but also in the Great Lakes Sprint Series and the WKA Manufacturer's Cup.

01/17/2007 The 2007 Thompson Kart Raceway class structure is now available for viewing here. Changes from last year are:

Changing the 80cc Cadet class name to 2 Cycle Jr. Sportsman with the addition of the Yamaha Junior Sportsman engine to the 80cc Comer engine. Both engines are per WKA class rules and are one class.

Senior Sportsman raises the weights 5 pounds to 345 lb for new style YAMs and ARCs, and 350 lb for old style YAMs. The Spec 100 engine (Can on a stick) is added to the class at 385 lb.

The elimination of the Stock Piston Port class due to low participation.

01/17/2007 The entryfees for next year have been determined and are available right here. The only change is that the entry fee per class was raised $2 from last year. We regret needing to increase our fees, but we've held them steady as long as we could.

01/11/2007 The elections are complete and the votes have been counted. As always it was tight election as we have such a talented pool of people to choose from. But when all was said and done, Dave Paterniti was re-elected as Vice-President and Robin Felice was elected Secretary. The trustees for the 2007 season are Steve Saunders, Lou Felice, Pete Sedlak, Ron Scott and Chuck Bunnell. Don't feel left out if you weren't elected, we still need your help!

01/01/2007 The Annual General Membership Meeting will be held at The Stadium Grill in Mentor(located on Tyler Blvd near Rt615) on Sunday January 7th at 5:00pm. Elections for the trustees, vice-president and secretary will take place at this meeting. It will be followed by a general discussion afterwards.

The only person to accept the nomination for vice president was Dave Paterniti who is currently the vice-president.

The only person to accept the nomination for secretary was Robin Felice. Robin worked many position last year at the track including many stints at registration.

Eight people accepted nominations to be a trustee. Five will be selected. The choices are:

Ron Scott
Pete Sedlak
Chuck Bunnell
Louie Felice
Steve Saunders
Geoff Hamm
Terry Frazier
Derek White

This is a board run club and the trustees and officers selected will be making the decisions and running this club. Please vote either by attending in person or via mail in ballot. Click this link for the mail in ballot and instructions.

Please note that per the newly revised and adopted by-laws, you must be a Annual Associate Member to vote for the officers and trustees. As of December 31, 2006, all memberships automatically expired. New memberships start upon payment in full of club dues. An Annual Associate membership is still available for the low, low price of just $20, unchanged from last year. This membership may go to an individual or to a family, but each membership only carries one vote.

Please plan on paying membership dues at the Annual General Membership meeting prior to voting or in the case of a mail in ballot, include the membership form and full payment.

01/01/2007 The CKRA by-laws have been revised and adopted by the board of trustees. The new version may be found here. The changes to the by-laws clearly define the different types of memberships available within the club, the terms of each membership and the rights associated with each membership. All memberships automatically terminate on December 31 each year, and new memberships start upon payment in full of club dues. As you would expect, new memberships must be purchased to gain voting rights to elect the new board of trustees. As in years past memberships will be available throughout the year including Annual Associate memberships, Race Day Associate memberships and Practice Day memberships. All the same stuff, but with their official names from the by-laws.
